Saturday Image Bonus 86

So we are up to Manicstamper in the request list from my 75th SAB. Manicstamper requested vintage garden images. These images are from a John Lewis Childs seed catalogue from 1895. All the images are copyrighted 1893. I guess once they had a good drawing they used it year after year. They were based in Floral Park, NY. The catalogue is filled with amazing drawings of vegetables and plants. All of these images are vegetables but they are works of art. As always please feel free to copy these images for your own personal use and artwork. Please do not sell the images as part of a collage sheet or digital download. If you use one of the images please link it to this site and post it in the comments section of this post so that we can all enjoy your artwork.

Memorial Day Bonus 5

Today is Memorial Day. I hope you enjoy the day. My daughter is in a parade. I love Memorial Day parades. We have a large one and all the town cheers when our soldiers go by. Take time today to make something creative to remember our soldiers.

Flea Market Finds

So I went to two flea markets yesterday. I found a lot of great ephemera. I must have bought 40 magazines from the early 1900's, a dozen cabinet card photos, eight children's soft cover books and a really neat french children's book. The french children's book is about 2 ft long, hard cover and shaped like a doll. The pictures inside are amazing. There is no date on the book but it looks like early 1920's. I will be very busy scanning all of my finds.

Memorial Day Bonus 4

Here are three more vintage soldier postcards. I hope you are enjoying your holiday weekend.

A Beautiful Inspiration

Sharon from Shardon Exclusives was kind enough to share this beautiful box she made using several vintage images. It really is an inspiration to see what she has designed with vintage images. Sharon made this box with a watch box that had been given to her husband. She sanded it down so the paper would hold to the plastic. On the outside she put this lovely red lady from Clearly Vintage then on the side added a collage of different clips. The white flower is from a bush in her yard. I have included the image that Sharon used again in this post so you don't have to search the my site to find it. Please stop by Sharon's blog. She is very talented and there are many amazing projects to see there.

The Sparrow

Dana at Paper Daydream was kind enough to share another beautiful card she made using a few of the stamps from the Clearly Vintage set Motif. I love how she created the background for this beautiful card using several Motif stamps. Dana's has the most amazing talent. She has an excellant eye for color and balance. Check out her blog to see more of her beautiful cards and projects.

Memorial Day Bonus 2

Here are three more postcards circa 1918. I guess the feelings of when a love one goes away to war have not changed that much in a hundred years. They show pride, sadness, loneliness, love and so many emotions in one small card. It gives you something to think on this memorial day weekend. I am so thankful for all the sacrifices our soldiers and their families make for our country.
Remember to please share any artwork you make with these images so we can all enjoy it.

Memorial Day Bonus Day 1

So today through Sunday, I will be posting Memorial Day images. It is Memorial Day in the USA on May 25. According to Wikapedia, Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (on May 25 in 2009). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the civil war), it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action.
These postcards are originals from WWI. I have tried to touch them up but a few are quite damaged. Be sure to share any projects you make with these images.

Saturday Image Bonus 84

So I am back from my business trip. Beth S. requested images from the 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's or 70's. I had a lot to chose from but I decided on the 50's.. Here are 9 pictures from a McCall's August 1954. I tried to pick a few that might work as Mother's Day cards since it is Mother' Day here in the USA this Sunday. I just love the one of the woman cleaning her toilet in her pearls. Too funny!!! Things were just so elegant in the 50's. As always please feel free to copy these images for your own personal use and artwork. Please do not sell the images as part of a collage sheet or digital download. If you use one of the images please post it in the comments section of this post so that we can all enjoy your artwork.
In honor of Mother's Day I will be having a 30% off sale on all my stamps. See the post above.
