Happy New Year everyone! The Holiday Image Bonus is over and the posts have been deleted. I will post new images and some of the old next Christmas season. In the mean time I am back posting assorted vintage images every Saturday for your enjoyment. In honor of New Year please post a comment with what type of images you would like to see. Most of my collection is from 1850 - 1930 so keep that in mind. I will start posting images from your comments next week. I can't wait to see what you request!
This week the images are from a November 1911 McCall's magazine. I have chosen a variety of images including advertisements. I adore the styles from this period though the corsets look a little uncomfortable. Sometimes I can't even stand an under wire bra. Imagine a full torso corset. How woman suffer for that perfect figure. I will try to post a few more of these precious images tommorow so check back.
Hi Cora,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great images. I love the McCalls cover.
I love all the old images so it's really hard for me to choose favorites. I guess if I have to I'd say I like the vintage images of children the best, like the ones in trade cards, postcards and magazine covers.
But I just have a thing for all the old stuff and I do appreciate the ones you scan for us.
Thanks again,
Kathy
Hi, I love everything you've posted so it's hard to pick a favorite type of image. I love the kids, women's fashions, ads, pics, etc. Oh shoot! As long as it's from your vintage collection, I'll love it!
ReplyDeleteBefore I forget, old style pics are cool too!
ReplyDeleteCora I love the vintage images of women that you had up today - they are very similar to some that were in an old book that I loved as a child - I think the books had been my grandmothers!!
ReplyDeleteHi Cora, I've just recently discovered your blog and love what you do here! I would love to see images of birds and flowers - the vintage ones are so pretty. Also love vintage children. Thanks for asking!
ReplyDeleteWishing you Happy New Year, May u always keep in heart the special beauty and cheer of New Year.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year and thank you for tons of great images!! Right now, I am into images that are picture like... I am mod-podging them onto thin board, glittering, etc to make seasonal wall hangings. Pretty easy and pretty fun with your images... I will show you links as soon as I get it all polished.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cora, for all the lovely images you have shared with us!
ReplyDeleteI would love birds and flowers images. How kind of you to ask :-)

ReplyDeleteI would love to see some of vintage ice skaters, especially Victorian images in black and white. I've looked all over--perhaps you have some that I am looking for. Thank you so much for ALL the images you post--I really love this kind of stuff. Have a great day! :)
Hi Cora!
ReplyDeleteI've followed your site for a long time now and I agree that it's hard to choose a favorite kind of image. I keep coming back to the pictures like these, the wonderful women's magazine images. Thank you so much for sharing them.
One question. I seem to be getting a lot of the jpeg cross-hatching lately when I pull down your pictures. Is there anything I can do?
Thank you again!
Wendy
Two things -
ReplyDeleteFirst, I can say from a some years of working at a ren faire that corsets can be much more comfortable than a bra, and the bigger your features, the more comfortable you will likely find them to be. Many of my ample-figured coworkers adored their corsets. They can be hot in warm weather, but they distribute the weight very nicely.
Secondly, I think that I would like more male images, especially with mustaches.
Thank you so much for providing all these images!
I like the old images of the ladies in their dresses, of children, and of the men. If there are old cars in the images, all the better. I'm not fussy--I've appreciated most everything you share with us here. Thanks so much, Cora!
ReplyDeleteoh the gentleman on the Postum ad reminds me of Grandfather of Heidi fame...wonderful...Thank You!
